,.... I'm sure the Vikes have enough cap to pay him what he wants.

Browns in no rush to work new deal with Winslow

The Cleveland Browns are in no hurry to sign tight end Kellen Winslow to the big new contract he's seeking.
"We don't have a lot of wiggle room right now at this particular time," Browns General Manager Phil Savage said Tuesday night at a Winner's Influence Conference at the Ohio Theater. "Only time will tell if it goes one direction or the other, but I think we've let it be known kind of where we are."
Savage said he expects Winslow to show up for minicamp next Tuesday through Thursday. "Of course, it's a mandatory camp, so the expectation is he'll be here."
Winslow has been absent from the four weeks of organized team activities, but his agent Drew Rosenhaus said last week on YouTube his client only stayed away because he was rehabbing his scoped right knee at home in San Diego. But Rosenhaus and Winslow have made it clear that they want to redo the deal. The deal has three years remaining at $4 million, $4.5 million and $4.75 million. The reference point for Winslow's camp is believed to be the 6-year, $42 million deal signed recently by tight end Dallas Clark.

While I wouldn't mind having the kind of talent that Winslow brings, I don't like the agent he has and I don't think he's shown enough in his young career to demonstrate needing to redo his deal.  He was the #6 overall pick in 2004, so he already had a good rookie deal, and he wasn't even available the first two years of that due to injury and motorcycle stunts.  He just had two solid years and already wants to redo his deal to match one of the top TD producing TE's in the league.  That's just the kind of prima-donna attitude that Chilly doesn't have room for on the team.  Why should a top 10 pick who finally lives up to the money he signed for in 2 of 4 years deserve to get his deal redone?  Keep your mouth shut, stay healthy, do your talking on the field, and cash in when FA kicks in.

An incentive laden contract will cool him down a bit. Smiley
